Barack Obama being elected the President of the United States is in no way, shape or form the culmination of the African-American civil rights movement. The most glaring reason to show that is the four years that followed Obama's second turn in office. America has continued to show, either in subtle ways or more in-your-face episodes, that the nation is still not too far removed from a time when people were indeed separate in all walks of life.
